Oshiomhole Criticizes Late NEC Chairman Nwosu, Asserts He Cannot Be Honored Without Confession

Edo North Senator, Adams Oshiomhole, has accused the late National Electoral Commission (NEC) Chairman, Humphrey Nwosu, and former military Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida, of committing wrongdoings during the 1993 presidential election. The senator pointed out that Nwosu, along with Babangida, misled the 18 million Nigerians who participated in the election. He expressed disappointment that the late NEC Chairman failed to acknowledge the mistakes or provide a confession about the flawed election process.

Oshiomhole stated, “Prof. Nwosu and IBB deceived 18 million Nigerians who voted. While some may argue that the oppressive regime at the time may have intimidated him, I would have expected Nwosu, in the freedom of democracy that followed, to finally confess and clarify the truth about the election results.”

He further stressed that, since Nwosu passed away without offering any admission of the events surrounding the election, he believes that the late NEC Chairman should not be honored or rewarded.
