Remi Tinubu Rallies Support for Nigerians with Albinism on Awareness Day
Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria’s First Lady, has expressed her solidarity with individuals living with albinism across the country and globally, emphasizing the need for equal rights, proper healthcare, and a life of dignity and security for them.
Her statement came in commemoration of the 2025 International Albinism Awareness Day, themed “Demanding our Rights: Protect our Skin, Preserve our Lives.”
In her message, the First Lady highlighted the ongoing marginalization of persons with albinism and called on all Nigerians to support them. “This day reminds us of our duty to ensure that persons with albinism enjoy not only equal rights but also the dignity, protection, and medical attention required for a fulfilling life,” she said.
She pledged to amplify advocacy for inclusive national policies and broader public enlightenment aimed at securing the rights and wellbeing of people with albinism.
Oluremi Tinubu concluded with a vision for a more just society: “We must build a country where every Nigerian—regardless of skin condition—can live with confidence and pride. Happy International Albinism Awareness Day!”
