Abiola’s Daughter Makes History As CLTC’s First Female DG

Rinsola Abiola Becomes First Female DG of Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre in Over 70 Years

History was made this week as Hon. Rinsola Abiola officially resumed duties as the first female Director-General of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC) in Abuja, according to Ireporter Online.

Abiola, daughter of the late Chief MKO Abiola, assumed office on August 13 following her appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The CLTC headquarters witnessed a jubilant atmosphere on Thursday as staff gathered in large numbers to welcome her to the role.

In her address to the workforce, she expressed deep gratitude to President Tinubu for the opportunity, describing it as a testament to his commitment to empowering youths and women in leadership. She pledged to deliver on her mandate with dedication and praised the staff for their warm reception.

A strategic communication and government relations expert, Abiola previously served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Citizenship and Leadership. Since 2013, she has actively worked at the intersection of politics and civil society to advance civic education, political literacy, and the inclusion of marginalised groups in governance, according to Ireporter Online.

Her academic background includes a B.Sc in Statistics, a Diploma in Public Relations, and participation in international study programmes across the United States, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. She is a certified public relations professional with over a decade of diverse experience spanning public, private, and non-profit sectors.

Outside her professional duties, Abiola runs the Derinsola Abiola Foundation in Abeokuta, which focuses on women and youth empowerment. She also volunteers as a facilitator with The Electoral College Nigeria, has served on the advisory board of the World Youth Movement for Democracy (Africa Region), and in 2019 was named among 25 young Nigerian women selected to champion the UN Women Beijing Platform for Action goals, according to Ireporter Online.
