The meeting took place in Edun’s Abuja office on Thursday, as part of the UN’s broader efforts to deepen collaboration with Nigeria on vital issues, including regional stability, economic growth, and social welfare.
Key topics discussed included how the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) can boost Nigeria’s trade relations across Africa. They also explored ways to address food security challenges, enhance social protection systems, and identify resources the UN can offer to support Nigeria’s development initiatives.
Edun expressed appreciation for Mohammed’s continued engagement with Nigeria and highlighted the administration’s progress in social safety programs, including the digitalisation of direct benefit transfers to improve efficiency and transparency. He also mentioned the government’s efforts to support agriculture, noting positive changes in both wet and dry season farming.
