Mustapha, this move aims to align with the Urban Planning and Development Law of 2002.
Key restrictions include the prohibition of street hawking, tricycle operations, and generator mechanics’ activities near major landmarks like the Post Office and Monday Market. Additionally, the ban extends to selling engine oil on road reserves, dumping construction materials on roads, and unauthorized borehole drilling by roadsides.
The government has urged affected individuals to vacate the premises immediately, warning of strict legal action for non-compliance. Mustapha emphasized the goal of fostering a clean, organized, and safe urban environment.
Residents and business owners are encouraged to cooperate fully, ensuring the success of this initiative for the betterment of Maiduguri and its surroundings.
