Breaking: Kogi Government Suspends Two-Principals Over Extortion-Allegations (Details)
The Kogi State Government has suspended two secondary school principals for alleged extortion and misconduct.
Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Wemi Jones, disclosed this to journalists on Monday.
Jones disclosed that some school principals and head teachers are under investigation for the same offences.
The commissioner, who did not reveal the identities of the principals, said one is from Kogi Central, while the other is from Kogi West.
According to him: “The 30 per cent budgetary allocation to the education sector is still in place. Kogi State Government, under the leadership of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, is thinking of increasing it due to the importance attached to the sector.”
He explained that while efforts are being made to revamp primary school education in the state, the government is also planning to pay National Examination Council, NECO, fees in public schools.
Jones, who reiterated the commitment of the present administration in resuscitating technical education in the state, commended the governor for consolidating the achievements of the previous administration.
He added that all programmes in the state-owned tertiary institutions have been duly accredited, stressing that government will continue to give priority to the education sector.
Ireporteronline recalls that during the last Children’s Day celebration, the Kogi State Government vowed to sanction secondary school principals or head teachers of public primary schools who sabotage its free education policy.
