Black Market (Aboki FX) Exchange Rate

According to sources at the Bureau De Change (BDC), the exchange rate at the Lagos Parallel Market as of Tuesday, January 28, 2025, is:

• Buying Rate: ₦1,630 per dollar
• Selling Rate: ₦1,640 per dollar

Official CBN Exchange Rate

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) does not recognize black market exchange rates and has advised individuals seeking foreign exchange to conduct transactions through their respective banks.

The CBN official rates for the dollar to naira as of today are:

• Highest Rate: ₦1,537
• Lowest Rate: ₦1,530

Note: The rates for buying or selling forex may vary based on location and market conditions.

Cooking Gas Prices Drop by 13.3%

Meanwhile, the price of refilling a 12.5kg cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), also known as cooking gas, has dropped by 13.3%.

Reports indicate that the average cost of refilling a 12.5kg cylinder fell from ₦18,750 in December 2024 to ₦16,250 in January 2025.

Similarly, the price of 1kg of gas also saw a 13.3% reduction, dropping from ₦1,500 to ₦1,300. A market survey found that gas was being sold for ₦1,250 per kg in some locations, while others offered it at ₦1,400 per kg.

Olatunbosun Oladapo, National President of the Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers (NALPGAM), emphasized that the association is committed to promoting the widespread use of LPG by ensuring affordability.
