According to a statement released by the EFCC, the suspects were apprehended at various locations across Akwa Ibom State. Five of them were captured at the ‘Laundering Lounge’ in Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo, on Monday, May 6, 2024, while sixteen others were nabbed on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Church Road, off Calabar Itu Road, Uyo.

Among the items recovered from the suspects were two luxury cars, nine laptops, 28 smartphones, and two wristwatches. The EFCC affirmed that the suspects will be prosecuted in court once investigations are concluded. This latest development underscores the agency’s commitment to combating cybercrime and ensuring that perpetrators face the full weight of the law.
