Fatal Crash on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Claims 10 Lives

A tragic road accident that occurred on Tuesday morning along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Oyo State has reportedly resulted in the deaths of over ten individuals, though four deaths have been officially confirmed by authorities.

According to reports gathered by PUNCH Metro, the crash involved three Nissan Micra taxis and three articulated vehicles, all reportedly heading from the Iwo Road axis before the incident occurred.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander in the state, Rosemary Alo, confirmed the incident in Ibadan, noting that the collision involved a total of seven vehicles.

“Four people were confirmed dead, and one other is currently receiving treatment at the hospital,” she stated. Alo added that some of the passengers who escaped without injury were able to continue on to their destinations.

Emergency responders from the Sanyo Police Station facilitated rescue efforts. The bodies of the deceased were deposited at Adeoyo Hospital morgue, while one of the corpses was released to the family with official police approval.

The Divisional Traffic Officer (DTO) of the Sanyo Police Division, Oluwole Adesina, is currently overseeing the handling of the vehicles involved in the crash.

Commander Alo advised motorists to adopt defensive driving techniques to prevent similar tragedies, particularly on major highways such as the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
