In a separate political development, Fayose has advised Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections, to consider stepping away from politics. Fayose believes that Atiku, at the age of 80 or 81 by 2027, may be too old to contest the presidency again, emphasizing the desire for younger leadership in Nigeria.

He further encouraged Atiku to bow out while still respected, arguing that Nigerians are eager for fresh, youthful leadership. Fayose also raised concerns about the PDP’s ability to challenge the ruling APC, pointing out that the opposition party lacks a strong organizational foundation.
