An IDF spokesperson confirmed the commencement of a limited-scale operation aimed at temporarily relocating residents from eastern Rafah. The evacuation directive primarily targets inhabitants residing near the border with Egypt.

Reports indicate that residents of the affected area, estimated to be around 100,000 individuals, have been notified through various channels including phone calls, text messages, flyers, and local media broadcasts.

As part of the evacuation plan, residents are being directed to move a few kilometers north to the al-Mawasi camp situated along the Mediterranean coast. The IDF assures that the al-Mawasi area has been designated as an extended humanitarian zone where essential supplies such as food, water, and medical aid will be available.

Furthermore, field hospitals have been established in the al-Mawasi area to cater to the medical needs of evacuees. However, specific details regarding the duration of the evacuation process have not been disclosed by the IDF spokesperson.

Despite the evacuation efforts, the IDF affirms its commitment to ensuring the uninterrupted flow of humanitarian aid to the affected population. Logistics for aid delivery, including access through the port in Ashdod, have been organized to support the evacuation operation.

The evacuation of Rafah comes amidst ongoing efforts to broker a ceasefire in the Gaza War and negotiations for the release of hostages, with the situation remaining tense between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
