Kano State Police Foil Kidnapping, Robbery Plans, Arrest 82 Criminals

In a press briefing at the Police Command’s headquarters in Bompai, Kano, Police Public Relations Officer Abdullahi Kiyawa outlined the results of the command’s intensified crime-fighting strategies. These efforts led to the disruption of criminal networks, including dismantling armed robbery groups along the Kano-Bauchi and Kano-Jigawa borders, and preventing kidnappings along the Kano-Kaduna and Kano-Katsina borders.

Kiyawa confirmed the recovery of various items from the suspects, including an AK-47 rifle, three locally made guns, 13 cutlasses, 16 knives, and multiple stolen goods such as motorcycles, tricycles, and mobile phones. Additionally, 50 sachets of diazepam, 42 sachets of tramadol, and 175 wraps of suspected hemp were seized.

The Police spokesman stressed that these successes reflect the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order and to strengthening its efforts in community policing, intelligence-led operations, and public awareness initiatives. He also expressed gratitude to Governor Abba Yusuf for donating 78 patrol vehicles to enhance the police’s operational capacity and service delivery.
