Makinde Breaks ” Is Who Your Father” Narrative In Oyo Politics

In attendance were dignitaries including the Minister of State for Youth, Ayodele Olawande, and a representative of former Senate President Bukola Saraki, along with Speakers from Osun and Ekiti State Houses of Assembly.

Governor Makinde reminisced about a time when familial lineage determined political success in Oyo State, but proudly proclaimed that he has shattered that paradigm. He emphasized his own background, stating that his father was an ordinary citizen, yet the people of Oyo State entrusted him with leadership.

Furthermore, Makinde urged Nigerian youths to take an active role in governance, stressing the importance of leadership in shaping the future. He highlighted historical examples of young leaders in Nigeria, such as General Yakubu Gowon, who became Head of State at 31, and former President Obasanjo, who retired as a General at 39.

Encouraging the youth to dream big, Makinde urged them not to underestimate their potential based on age. He emphasized the significance of starting early and harnessing their energy to make a difference, stating that even at a young age of 24 or 25, they could achieve remarkable feats.

Makinde’s passionate address inspired the students to aspire for leadership roles and to seize opportunities to contribute positively to society, reinforcing his commitment to supporting the youth in shaping the future of Nigeria.
