Initially scheduled for November 14, 2024, the protest aimed to address dissatisfaction with the NDDC’s perceived selective activities. In a statement from Port Harcourt, Theophilus explained that leaders including Pa Edwin Clark, Ambassador Godknows Igali, and others requested the group avoid escalating tensions, particularly given recent violence in Abuloma and the fragile political climate.

Theophilus emphasized the commitment to regional peace, asserting that the IYC would keep monitoring the NDDC’s performance closely and would advocate for comprehensive and sustainable projects that foster employment and empowerment across the region.
