Politics: PDP Not Engaged In Merger Talks – Ologbondiyan
Kola Ologbondiyan, the former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has stated that the party is not pursuing any coalition discussions with other political organizations…READ MORE…
He clarified that while some political figures within the PDP are engaged in dialogues about potential collaboration, the party itself has not initiated any merger talks.
Ologbondiyan shared this information during an interview with Channels TV on Friday.
“As a political party, I don’t believe the Peoples Democratic Party is currently in discussions with any other party, according to my observations. However, it’s important to note that there are individuals within the political landscape who are exploring the idea of coming together. I can’t specify anyone, but that seems to be the general sentiment in political discourse,” he said.
When asked whether the PDP could potentially displace the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government or consider a merger in the future, Ologbondiyan indicated that the party is still evaluating its options.
“Members of the political class are talking about the need to establish a formidable platform to challenge the current administration. Whether the PDP alone can unseat President Bola Tinubu’s government is still a matter of discussion. It’s too early to say, as elections are still a couple of years away. However, every journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step,” Ologbondiyan concluded.
