Prosecutors Seek 5-Year Jail Term For Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti

The accusations stem from Ancelotti’s tenure as manager of Real Madrid between 2013 and 2015, during which prosecutors allege he defrauded the Spanish tax system.
While leading Real Madrid during his initial stint, Ancelotti secured several prestigious titles, including one Copa del Rey, one UEFA Champions League, one UEFA Super Cup, and one FIFA Club World Cup.
Prosecutors are specifically targeting Ancelotti’s tax affairs during his first tenure, estimating that he evaded €1 million in taxes through intricate schemes involving shell companies to conceal his true earnings.
The alleged tax fraud, unrelated to image rights, involves Ancelotti’s direct income as a football manager and other business ventures in Spain.
Prosecutors argue that Ancelotti deliberately manipulated his tax records, creating a convoluted system to evade taxes owed to the country.
In response to the charges, prosecutors are urging the Madrid court to impose a five-year prison sentence, although the offense typically carries a maximum penalty of four years and nine months.
As of the time of reporting, Ancelotti has not officially responded to the allegations, and the trial proceedings have yet to commence.
