PRP Slams Government For “Insensitive” 300% Increase In Electricity Tariff
The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has strongly criticized the federal government’s decision to raise electricity tariffs by a staggering 300%, denouncing it as not only insensitive but also a clear disregard for the challenges faced by ordinary citizens……READ ALSO PRP Demands Probe Into Alleged Budget Padding, Denounces Misconduct
Muhammed Ishaq, the Acting National Publicity Secretary of the PRP, condemned the policy, highlighting that it would lead to a significant hike in electricity prices from N68 to N200 per kilowatt-hour. This drastic escalation, occurring amidst the removal of fuel subsidies and the sharp devaluation of the Naira, further exacerbates the already daunting cost of living and hardships endured by Nigerians.
The party emphasized the unreasonable burden imposed on a populace already grappling with economic adversities, emphasizing the need for the government to prioritize the welfare of its citizens. PRP called for a reconsideration of the decision and urged authorities to explore alternative solutions that do not inflict further suffering on Nigerians.
Asserting its commitment to advocating for the welfare of the people, the PRP stressed the necessity for empathy, understanding, and collaborative efforts to alleviate the plight of Nigerians during these challenging times. It described the government’s actions as “merciless and ruthless,” emphasizing the harsh impact on a population struggling to meet even basic needs like food.
In conclusion, the PRP underscored its profound concern and echoed the sentiments of millions of Nigerians facing the harsh realities of survival. It labeled the government’s decision as both insensitive and callous, emphasizing the urgent need for policies that uplift rather than oppress the citizenry.
