introduction of Special Airport Marshals across Nigerian airports.

These marshals, comprising media representatives, state governor delegates, members of non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders, will serve as volunteers, conducting unscheduled visits to monitor staff behavior and evaluate airport hygiene and conditions.

According to the Minister’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Tunde Moshood, the marshals will report their findings directly to Keyamo, who will issue directives to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) based on their assessments.

Moshood stated, “The Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, recognizing the need for high standards of customer service and operational excellence, has launched this initiative to improve service delivery and environmental standards in airports nationwide.”

The Special Airport Marshals initiative is designed to provide an independent layer of supervision, complementing the official reports from airport managers. It aims to ensure accountability in the utilization of monthly maintenance allocations provided to airport management.

Keyamo, alongside ministry officials, FAAN management, and members of the National Assembly, will also undertake periodic unscheduled inspections of airports nationwide. These visits will involve direct participation in operational activities and interactions with staff to address concerns, emphasize professionalism, and reinforce courteous service delivery.

This initiative reflects a commitment to transforming Nigerian airports into globally competitive hubs for travelers.
