Shock in Kogi: Retired Army Major Abducted by Gunmen in Broad Daylight!

A 76-year-old retired Nigerian Army Major and former Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kabba-Bunu chapter, Pastor Joe Ajayi, has reportedly been abducted from his residence in Odo-Ape, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Sources reveal that Ajayi was kidnapped around 11:30 PM on Wednesday by unknown gunmen who stormed the area and opened fire indiscriminately for over an hour before whisking him away to an unknown destination.

The incident has sparked deep concern among residents, particularly due to the victim’s fragile health and advanced age, which could worsen under captivity.

This abduction has heightened fear within the community and intensified calls for stronger security intervention.

It comes shortly after the Okun Development Association (ODA) issued a strong warning about the deteriorating security situation in Okunland. The group had previously condemned the kidnapping of a traditional ruler in Okoloke, Yagba West LGA, and urged federal and state authorities to take urgent action.

Ajayi’s kidnapping adds to a disturbing trend of abductions in the region. Earlier this year, a local council member was kidnapped from his home, and shortly afterward, three adults and a child were seized from a nearby farm—further underlining the rising insecurity plaguing the area.
