Shock Move! Peter Obi’s Ally Defects to APC, Says ‘I Want to Be Close to Government’

Fabian Ozoigbo, a close associate of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi, has officially dumped the Labour Party (LP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State

Speaking with journalists on Wednesday in Awka, Ozoigbo declared his commitment to support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections. He criticized the Labour Party’s rejection of the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the last presidential poll.

Ozoigbo, who previously served as Head of Logistics for the Labour Party, admitted he initially anticipated an economic collapse following the removal of the fuel subsidy. However, he expressed surprise and admiration for the relative stability of the economy under Tinubu’s administration.

“As someone from the opposition, I expected the economy to completely crash after the fuel subsidy was removed. But to my surprise, despite the hardship, the economy is still functioning,” he said.

“I’ve chosen to move closer to the current government to observe and contribute to this unexpected resilience. I want to be part of the new Nigeria — one driven by sound policies capable of reviving the economy. Since we haven’t seen a total collapse and there are signs of progress, I believe this could be the beginning of an economic turnaround, and I want to be involved.”
