The Southern Kaduna Christian Leaders Association (SKCLA) has conveyed warm greetings to Muslims in celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, calling on Nigerians to foster unity and view the country’s diversity as a source of strength rather than division.

“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our Muslim brothers and sisters on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast. This period of devotion, sacrifice, and prayer signifies spiritual renewal, and we commend the commitment shown in seeking God’s mercy and guidance. May the blessings of this holy season bring peace, wisdom, and prosperity to you and our nation,” the statement read.

The SKCLA also called for national introspection, cautioning against the increasing trend of using religion as a political tool, particularly in parts of Northern Nigeria. The leaders expressed concerns that such practices could jeopardize the unity and peace that Nigerians have diligently worked to sustain.

The statement highlighted the importance of inclusive leadership in a diverse nation like Nigeria, warning that governance marked by exclusivity could undermine the bonds that unite citizens.

Furthermore, the SKCLA urged political leaders to promote understanding and mutual respect while avoiding divisive politics that manipulate religious sentiments for sectional interests.

“This situation arises as various northern ethnic groups increasingly assert their unique identities and call for fairness. If not addressed, this trend may disrupt the fragile peace and trust that have been painstakingly nurtured,” the statement noted.
