In response to Atiku’s comments, Onanuga described them as “erroneous” and “irresponsible.” However, Atiku reiterated his concerns about the lack of transparency in awarding contracts and the allocation of public funds for the project.

Olusegun, via his official handle, accused Atiku of misunderstanding the project, mistaking it for the Lagos-Calabar Railway. He clarified that the project was initiated under the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration, not during Goodluck Jonathan’s tenure as claimed by Atiku.

The presidential aide emphasized the distinction between the Lagos-Calabar Railway and the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road. He also highlighted the project’s public-private partnership nature and clarified the funding arrangements.

In conclusion, Olusegun urged Atiku to refrain from engaging in what he termed “politics of criticism-by-force” and encouraged him to focus on genuine development initiatives instead.
