Wike Accuses Amaechi of Lying About Wife’s Profession, Calls Her a Trader

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has accused his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi, of misleading Nigerians about his wife’s occupation.

Wike, who made the remarks on Channels Television on Friday, was reacting to a recent statement by Amaechi. The former Rivers State governor and ex-Minister of Transportation had, during an interview on Thursday, described his wife as an industrialist.

However, Wike dismissed the claim as false, insisting that Amaechi’s wife is a trader, not an industrialist.

“I know Amaechi’s wife very well,” Wike said. “Amaechi is insulting Nigerians. When did his wife become an industrialist? Which manufacturing company does she own?”

The FCT Minister questioned why Amaechi brought his wife into political discussions, arguing that family members should be left out of such debates.

“Amaechi doesn’t even understand the difference between an industrialist and a trader,” Wike added. “If we are going to play politics, let’s keep our wives out of it.”
