Wike Highlights Challenges That Could Hinder PDP’s 2027 Presidential Bid

According to Ireporter Online, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has cast doubt on the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) chances of winning the presidency in 2027.

Speaking during his end-of-year media briefing, Wike attributed the party’s potential setback to poor leadership. The former Governor of Rivers State emphasized that PDP’s leadership currently lacks focus and commitment, suggesting that with the right direction, the party could regain power in 2031.

Wike stated, “We have a leadership that is not focused, that does not know what to do, and that does not consider suggestions. If the leadership is committed, I will admit when mistakes are made and work to correct them. It’s not just about winning government; we must position ourselves effectively. Leadership needs to be strong and receptive to advice.”

He added, “By 2027, it is likely that we may not succeed, but we must not allow the party to decline. Rebuilding now will prepare us for 2031. Nothing is impossible with commitment. I have predicted the current challenges and warned repeatedly that this could happen if issues are not addressed. Leadership is critical in everything we do, whether in associations or government, and wrong decisions carry consequences.”
