Makama alleged that victims included members of the Zamfara Community Protection Guard (ZCPG), vigilantes, and local residents, who were mistaken for bandits after fleeing the scene.

The report noted, “So far, 16 dead bodies have been recovered, but the total number of casualties remains unclear.”

However, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, Olusola Akinboyewa, dismissed these allegations.

Akinboyewa emphasized, “The Nigerian Air Force takes every possible measure to prevent, minimize, and mitigate harm to civilians during operations. These reports are likely propaganda from terrorists and their sympathizers as they seek to discredit the military.”

He assured that all airstrikes were carried out based on reliable intelligence and that no credible evidence of civilian casualties had been received.

“The air component of Operation Fansan Yamma conducted these airstrikes to repel ongoing bandit attacks on villages in the region. We remain committed to keeping the public informed as events unfold,” he added.
