Why Nasarawa APC Lost Presidential Election – Sule
Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has explained why the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) lost the state in the presidential election to the Labour Party (LP).
The governor told reporters yesterday at the Government House in Lafia, the state capital, that internal wrangling over the party’s primaries was not the main reason for the electoral defeat.
He stated that the presidential election was a contest between political parties and a movement.

“The election was between political parties against a movement. It was difficult for political parties because they didn’t know where the movement was going. But thank God that our candidate, Bola Tinubu, won the election,” Sule said.
The governor expressed confidence that the March 18 governorship election will be different, and that the APC will retain control of the state.
He said: “There are so many reasons why people lost elections. But in our own case, what makes us great might have contributed to us losing the election. One of the things that make Nasarawa great is the fact that because of the proximity of the state to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), a lot of people from other parts of the country, who probably do not share the sentiments of APC, went against us.”
Sule stated that states like Lagos, Benue, Kaduna, and Kebbi have no internal wrangling as a result of the primaries they held in their various political parties, despite losing the presidential election to opposition parties.
