Tinubu Won’t Be Happy” — APC Chieftain Blasts Wike Over ‘Lazy Governors’ Comment

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Aliyu Farouk, has criticised Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over his description of APC governors as “lazy.”

Farouk said the APC was displeased with Wike’s remarks and expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu would also not be happy with the comment.

According to reports, Farouk made the statement while speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Thursday.

He explained that the APC was working towards establishing a unified campaign structure at both the national and state levels ahead of the 2027 general elections, with governors expected to oversee campaign activities in their respective states.

Farouk said although the party would not prevent Wike from expressing his opinions, it would not accept remarks that disparage APC governors.

“We cannot stop Wike from speaking the way he does or saying whatever he wants. But as a party, we resent that kind of comment.

“We are not happy with the way he called our governors, and I’m sure Mr President will not be happy either,” he said.

Farouk also questioned Wike’s claim that he had held discussions or reached an understanding with President Tinubu regarding his political activities ahead of the 2027 elections.

He said the APC was not aware of any such arrangement between Wike and the President, adding that the minister might equally not be privy to discussions between the President and members of the party.

“And if he said he had meetings or an arrangement with Mr President, well, we in the APC are not privy to that. I’m sure he’s not privy to what we are also discussing with Mr President,” Farouk added.

The APC chieftain subsequently appealed to members of the party to avoid engaging Wike in public exchanges over the issue.

“I call on my party members not to join issues with them,” he said.
