2027: “Stop Talking, Go And Work” — Tinubu Campaign Spokesperson Reacts To Wike-APC Governors Clash

The spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Ima Niboro, has urged Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and APC governors to tone down their public disagreements and focus on grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election.

According to reports, Niboro made the call on Wednesday while appearing on Arise Television’s The Morning Show, following a public disagreement between Wike and some APC governors over political strategies ahead of the 2027 election.

The disagreement followed Wike’s criticism of APC governors after they rejected his proposed cross-party arrangement aimed at mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, had maintained that APC governors would remain committed to candidates contesting elections under the party’s platform and would not support arrangements capable of weakening the APC.

Wike, however, questioned the electoral records of some governors, including Uzodimma, while maintaining that his focus was on mobilising support for Tinubu rather than participating in state-level contests.

Reacting to the exchange, Niboro described the disagreement as a quarrel among political allies and called on both sides to demonstrate their influence through grassroots engagement rather than public exchanges.

“When I said tone down the rhetoric, I do not mean stop working. Stop talking, go and work,” Niboro said.

He urged the political leaders to strengthen their support bases by engaging directly with voters in their communities.

“All this shouting is not taking anybody anywhere. Go and work. Go and establish your authority on your political base,” he stated.

Niboro further challenged them to take their political campaigns to the streets, marketplaces and other grassroots communities to win public support.

“Stop all this high-sounding grammar that they are blowing everywhere is not leading anybody anywhere. Go and work,” he added.

The APC campaign spokesperson clarified that his appeal was not for Wike or the governors to abandon their respective political interests, but for them to demonstrate their influence through concrete grassroots mobilisation.

“If you’re a political leader, stop talking. Go and work. That is my point,” Niboro said.
