Taiwo Awoniyi Graduates With Merit In Global Football Sport Directorship

Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi has added an academic milestone to his professional football career after graduating with Merit from the PFA Business School.

According to reports, the 29-year-old forward successfully completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Global Football Sport Directorship, marking another significant achievement in his development away from the football pitch.

Awoniyi announced the feat on Instagram, describing it as another proud moment in his journey and stressing the importance of education alongside his football career.

“Another proud moment for me off the pitch,” Awoniyi wrote.

“Graduating from the PFA Business School with a Postgraduate Diploma in Global Football Sport Directorship with Merit.

“I have always believed that being a footballer shouldn’t stop you from being a student of the game, and education has become an important part of that journey for me.

“Still playing. Still learning. The journey continues.”

Awoniyi began his professional football journey with Imperial Academy in Nigeria before securing a move to Liverpool in 2015. He subsequently featured for several European clubs, including Union Berlin and Nottingham Forest, while also earning recognition at the senior international level with the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The striker currently plays for Premier League club Coventry City, having joined the side from Nottingham Forest in August 2026.

His latest academic accomplishment comes as he continues to balance his professional football career with educational development, reflecting his efforts to broaden his knowledge of the sport beyond his role as a player.

The qualification adds another dimension to Awoniyi’s journey, which has taken him from youth football in Nigeria to the professional game in Europe and international football with the Nigerian national team.
