Four K!lled In Horrific Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Crash
Four people have been killed in a fatal road crash along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.
According to reports, the accident occurred at about 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, around Straight Gate School, Ipara Remo, along the Ibadan-Lagos route.
Two vehicles were involved in the crash — a blue Mitsubishi Canter with registration number FGE 753 XA and an ash-coloured HOWO truck with registration number T-695 KT.
The Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), through its spokesperson, Chief Route Commander Afolabi Odunsi, confirmed the incident in a statement made available to journalists.
Odunsi said eight people were involved in the crash, with four adult males losing their lives. One other male adult sustained injuries, while three people escaped unhurt.
According to the FRSC, preliminary investigations indicated that speeding and wrongful overtaking were the primary causes of the crash. The Mitsubishi driver was reportedly travelling at high speed when the vehicle collided with the moving HOWO truck while attempting to overtake.
Fatigue was also identified as a contributing factor, with the driver reportedly experiencing fatigue during the journey.
The FRSC rescue team received information about the crash at 4:33 a.m. and arrived at the scene six minutes later, at 4:39 a.m.
The injured victim was subsequently taken to Victory Hospital in Ogere for medical treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the FOS Mortuary in Ipara.
The two vehicles involved in the crash were handed over to the Police Motor Traffic Division, Isara Division, for further investigation and necessary action.
