Rest On, Legend” — Mercy Johnson Mourns Late Nollywood Icon Olu Jacobs

Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie has paid an emotional tribute to late veteran actor Olu Jacobs, describing him as a legend whose presence, guidance and influence left a lasting impression on her career.

According to reports, Johnson reflected on her experiences with the late actor, whom she affectionately referred to as “Uncle Olu,” recalling the memorable moments they shared while working together on movie sets.

The actress said their time together was filled with laughter, joy and what she described as “plenty of corrections,” adding that the memories remain deeply precious to her.

Johnson noted that Jacobs was more than just a veteran actor in her life, describing him as a legend whose impact became an important part of her journey in the Nigerian film industry.

In her tribute, she wrote, “Rest well, Uncle Olu.

“I could never forget our moments on set, truly precious memories, filled with so much laughter, joy, and, of course, plenty of corrections.

“Those moments will forever hold a special place in my heart.

“You were more than just veteran, you are a legend and you were someone whose presence, guidance, and impact became part of my journey. Looking back now, I realize how precious those moments were.”

Johnson added that the late actor would be greatly missed, while expressing hope that the memories he created and the lives he touched would continue to preserve his legacy.

“You will be deeply missed, Uncle Olu, but your memories and the lives you touched will continue to speak for you,” she said.

The actress also extended her condolences to Jacobs’ wife, veteran actress Joke Silva, and the entire family, praying for strength and comfort during the difficult period.

“My heartfelt condolences to Mummy Joke Silva and the entire family. May God comfort you, strengthen you, and grant you peace during this difficult time,” she added.
