Ogun Police Capture 31-Year-Old Thief In Major House Burglary

The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended Lukpata Micheal, a 31-year-old man, accused of breaking into a house and causing property damage and theft worth approximately N2.6 million in the Igode area of the state.

Police spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Tuesday.

Odutola reported that the break-in occurred on Monday, February 3, 2025, at 9:25 AM. The victim, Orukpe Emmanuel, had been alerted that his home had been burgled by Lukpata Micheal, who was found to have caused significant damage to the property. The damaged items included a broken ceiling valued at N200,000, a window burglary system worth N100,000, and stolen electrical cables, wires, sockets, aluminium casement, window frames, and glasses, totaling N1.85 million. The overall damage was estimated at N2.65 million.

A preliminary investigation was launched immediately after the report, and the suspect was arrested. CSP Odutola confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.

In a separate incident, the Ogun State Police Command also arrested 35-year-old Idowu Kehinde, accused of stealing ceiling fans and aluminum windows from a mosque in Agbado, Ogun State. Kehinde reportedly gained access to the Mapara Moboluwaduro Central Mosque by scaling its fence before stealing items valued at N520,000.
