Wife Furious After Discovering Husband Hid Salary Increase And Saved ₦20m For Japa

A Nigerian man has shared the story of his colleague whose wife reportedly threatened to end their marriage after discovering that he had secretly saved more than ₦20 million for a planned relocation abroad.

According to the account shared on X by @prince_dc21_, the man received a promotion at work three years ago, increasing his monthly salary from ₦300,000 to ₦850,000. However, he allegedly kept the development from his family, including his wife.

The man reportedly explained that he had struggled to save money during his first two years of employment and feared that revealing his salary increase would lead to increased financial demands from his family.

As a result, he allegedly continued living as though he was still earning ₦300,000 while setting aside the additional ₦550,000 from his new salary each month.

According to the post, the strategy continued for three years, during which the man reportedly accumulated more than ₦20 million in savings.

He later began making arrangements to relocate abroad and reportedly received approval for his visa before informing his wife about his increased salary, savings and plans.

The revelation allegedly angered his wife, who reportedly accused him of deceiving her for three years and threatened to end their marriage.

The woman was said to have explained that she had made financial sacrifices because she believed the family was managing on a monthly income of ₦300,000.

“ You’ve been lying to me for three years. I was making sacrifices and doing things I wasn’t supposed to do because I thought we were surviving on ₦300k,” she reportedly told him.

The man, according to the account, tried to explain that his decision was motivated by his desire to secure a better future for the family and make their relocation possible.

However, the post claimed that his wife remained unhappy with the decision, leaving the man with his savings, an approved visa and relocation plans, while the future of the marriage remained uncertain.
