Tinubu Holds Another Night Meeting With Kwankwaso’s Key Ally

According to Ireporter Online, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday night held a closed-door meeting with Abdulmumin Jibrin, a prominent political ally of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) leader Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, at the State House in Abuja. The meeting, which lasted from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., marked their second encounter within two weeks.

Although official sources hinted that discussions may have touched on Tinubu’s political relationship with Kwankwaso and the rising wave of anti-All Progressives Congress (APC) sentiments in parts of northern Nigeria, Jibrin declined to disclose details when approached by reporters.

Their previous meeting on July 30 reportedly centred on national unity and development. At that time, Jibrin, a former federal lawmaker, hinted at the possibility of future political realignments when asked about potential defection to the APC, saying, “Everything is open, and everything is a possibility… when we get to the bridge, we’ll cross it.”

The latest engagement comes just days after Kwankwaso accused the current administration of favouring southern Nigeria in infrastructure and development projects. Jibrin, known for maintaining strong ties with both Tinubu and Kwankwaso, has continued to play a strategic role in bridging political divides between the two camps.
