Shettima Urges Adamawa & Bauchi Governors To Join APC

According to Ireporter Online, Vice President Kashim Shettima has described the defection of Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as both “personal and touching,” noting that it signals a wider realignment in Nigeria’s North-East geopolitical zone.

Shettima made the remarks in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, during a grand reception on Saturday organized by the APC to formally welcome Governor Kefas into the ruling party. He hailed the move as a source of pride for the APC, emphasizing that the party now governs more states in the North-East.

The Vice President also expressed optimism that governors from Adamawa and Bauchi states, currently under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), would soon reconsider their positions and align with the APC. Declaring Governor Kefas as the APC leader in Taraba, Shettima urged party members to rally behind him.

Governor Kefas, speaking at the event, explained that his defection was not motivated by personal ambition but by a desire to reposition Taraba for development. He cited President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda as a key inspiration for his decision and assured citizens that his administration would focus on people-centered governance and deliver tangible development projects across sectors.

APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, described the defection as a “masterstroke” in the interest of the people and encouraged other PDP governors to join what he termed “the progressive movement.”
