22-Year-Old Allegedly St@bs Man To D3ath in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old man, Audu Babangida, over the alleged stabbing death of 25-year-old Haruna Bala following a dispute over farmland in Kirfi Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

According to the police, the incident occurred on Thursday, September 17, at Kafin Sarkin Yaki village in Kirfi LGA, where a disagreement between the two men allegedly escalated into a physical confrontation.

The statement said Babangida allegedly stabbed Bala in the neck with a knife during the altercation.

Bala was subsequently rushed to the General Hospital, Kirfi, where he was confirmed dead. His remains were reportedly released to his relatives for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

The police said the suspect fled the scene after the incident, prompting operatives of the Kirfi Division to launch an intelligence-led manhunt.

According to the command, Babangida was arrested on Friday, September 18, at about 11am at River Kafin Iya while allegedly attempting to cross into Gombe State.

The police also said the knife allegedly used in the attack was recovered and retained as an exhibit as investigations into the incident continue.
