Angel Smith Slams ‘Fake Morality’ Over Lesbianism Allegation: “You People Are the Real Problem!”

Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Angel Smith, has addressed the backlash over a viral video showing her hugging a female friend intimately, which sparked rumours of a lesbian relationship.

In a statement shared via Snapchat, Angel made it clear that being called a lesbian is not an insult. She criticized society’s misplaced priorities, pointing out how issues like pedophilia often go ignored while her personal life and sexuality are subjected to harsh scrutiny.

Angel asserted her autonomy, stating that as an adult, she has the right to make her own decisions. She emphasized the need for people to respect differing beliefs and clarified that she is not homophobic.

She also downplayed the criticism, reminding her audience that public opinions are often short-lived and ultimately inconsequential.

Her statement read in part:
“Nigerians lose their minds when they realize others don’t share the same values. Calling me a lesbian isn’t the insult you think it is—definitely not a big deal for someone as fine as me.

“This is my life. I didn’t hide the video—I posted it, and so did my friends, because, surprise, I’m an adult and I can live my life how I choose.

“I’m not homophobic, and just because you believe something is wrong doesn’t mean everyone else must agree with you.

“Also, one day we’re all going to die, and your opinion will be nothing more than a faint whisper in the wind. Hard to hear, but true.”
