CDS Assures Troops Of Nigeria’s Deep Gratitude

In a special Christmas message delivered to personnel deployed across various theatres of operation, the CDS acknowledged the unwavering commitment of the Armed Forces, noting that while many Nigerians celebrate the festive season with their families, soldiers remain on duty, confronting security threats nationwide.

General Oluyede praised the courage, discipline and professionalism of the troops, stressing that their selfless service, often undertaken at great personal cost, reflects the finest values of the Armed Forces of Nigeria. He noted that the country owes them an immeasurable debt of gratitude for safeguarding lives, property and national stability.

The defence chief also commended Nigerians for their resilience, patriotism and continued support for the military despite the country’s complex security challenges. He described Christmas as a season symbolising love, sacrifice, hope and renewal, urging citizens to reflect on shared values, collective responsibility and a common commitment to unity, peace and national development.

According to the CDS, the confidence and belief of citizens in the Nigerian project serve as a major source of motivation for troops on the frontline. He emphasised that mutual trust, cooperation and synergy between the military and the public remain critical to achieving lasting peace and security across the country.

General Oluyede reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ resolve to uphold their constitutional duty to defend Nigeria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and democratic institutions. He assured military personnel that their welfare remains a top priority under his leadership, pledging sustained improvements in living and working conditions, healthcare services, accommodation, prompt payment of allowances and continued support for the families of fallen heroes.

He further called on Nigerians to use the festive season to promote peace, tolerance and unity across ethnic, religious and cultural divides, stressing that the nation’s diversity remains a source of strength.

Addressing members of the Armed Forces, the CDS urged them to remain disciplined, professional and loyal to the Constitution, while upholding the values of honour, integrity and service. He encouraged them to draw inspiration from the teachings of Christ, which emphasise peace, love, forgiveness and selfless service.

General Oluyede also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his consistent support for the Armed Forces and called on sister security agencies to maintain strong collaboration and unity of effort in the collective mission to protect the nation.
