Drug Cartels Beware: NDLEA and US DEA Join Forces to End Drug Abuse and Smuggling!

This was the key focus during a meeting between NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), and the US-DEA Country Attaché, Ms. Daphne Morrison, held at the NDLEA National Headquarters in Abuja on Friday, May 23, 2025.

Expressing appreciation for the strong partnership with NDLEA, Morrison, recently posted to Nigeria, revealed plans to organize further training sessions for NDLEA’s Special Operations Units and anticipated several joint operations in targeted areas.

She said, “I made it a priority to meet with you so we can continue to collaborate effectively. Thank you for your ongoing support over the years. I’m ready to build on the good work done with my predecessor and look forward to achieving great results together.”

In his response, Brigadier General Marwa, through NDLEA’s Director of Media & Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, acknowledged the support from Morrison’s predecessors and expressed confidence in continuing and even improving this relationship.

He highlighted NDLEA’s recent growth in workforce, expanded operational and administrative capabilities, and significant achievements in reducing drug supply and demand.

Marwa also expressed gratitude for the DEA’s ongoing assistance with equipment, training, and joint operations, while hoping such support will continue.

“While I won’t make a long list of requests on your first visit, I want to acknowledge our appreciation for all the support we have received so far,” he concluded.
