Edo By-Election a Litmus Test for APC Ahead of 2027, Says Deputy Governor
The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Dennis Idahosa, has declared the upcoming Ovia Federal Constituency by-election a crucial test for the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections. Speaking at the party’s campaign flag-off on Saturday, Idahosa urged members to intensify mobilization efforts to secure victory for the APC candidate, Omosede Igbinedion.
Idahosa emphasized that Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration has prioritized infrastructural development in the constituency, urging voters to reciprocate by supporting the APC in the polls. He specifically highlighted Siluko Ward as a key area needing further development, calling on residents to rally behind the party for continued progress.
“This by-election is a litmus test for our readiness for 2027,” Idahosa stated. “We must deliver a 100% victory for the APC to demonstrate our strength. The achievements in Siluko and beyond were made possible by our party, and we must sustain this momentum.”
APC candidate Omosede Igbinedion praised the deputy governor for his grassroots impact, promising to leverage her experience to attract more federal projects if elected. Meanwhile, Senator Neda Imasuen expressed confidence in Igbinedion’s ability to address past gaps, while Ovia council chairman Nosakhare Edobo reaffirmed the governor’s commitment to the people.
The by-election, scheduled for next Saturday, is seen as a pivotal battle for political dominance in Edo State.
