Sporadic shooting was reported Saturday evening near the Isiama Afaraukwu Umuahia county home of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Kanu’s younger brother, Prince Emmanuel, who raised the alarm, claimed that a police detachment stormed the father’s palace and began shooting.

As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the shooting had not been determined.

If anything happens to members of his family, Prince Emmanuel says the Nigerian police should be held accountable.

An eyewitness who simply identified himself as Michael corroborated this, saying that the police officers who drove in in a Hilux came from the gate of the Commissioner of Police in the neighborhood.

He claimed that when confronted, they were unable to provide a compelling reason for their mission and returned to their base.

According to Michael, the shooting caused panic in the surrounding area, causing people to flee their homes.

He claimed that they were now terrified of being intimidated by security agencies.

When contacted, Geoffrey Ogbonna, the Police Public Relations Officer in charge of Abia State, stated that he was unaware of the incident.
