I Can Endorse Only One Politician” – Falz Names His Preferred Leader

According to Ireporter Online, Falz made the statement while discussing civic participation, democracy and the importance of voter involvement ahead of upcoming elections.

The entertainer clarified that he has never publicly endorsed any politician or political party, stressing that his advocacy has always centred on encouraging Nigerians to participate actively in the electoral process.

Falz explained that his previous campaigns focused on urging citizens to register, obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and exercise their voting rights rather than supporting any particular candidate.

“Just a point of correction: I’ve never, in 2023 or at any point, openly supported any politician or political party. I’ve only actively encouraged people to go out to vote and get their intentions known,” he said.

The rapper stated that his major concern has been the promotion of free, fair and credible elections, arguing that citizens must have the freedom to choose their leaders without interference.

According to him, stronger participation in elections remains essential to building a healthier democratic system in Nigeria.

Falz, who has been outspoken on issues including governance, accountability, human rights and social justice, said he has intentionally avoided endorsing politicians because of concerns about the country’s political landscape.

He explained that Nigeria’s political environment has remained dominated by familiar faces moving between different positions, making it difficult for him to publicly support any individual without complete confidence.

“We’ve been going in cycles, and it just seems like almost the same crop of people we keep on reshuffling. At the end of the day, it’s tough to even sit anywhere and vouch for a Nigerian politician in 2026,” he stated.

However, the musician said he has not completely ruled out backing a politician in the future, adding that he would support a candidate whose character, ability and vision convinced him beyond doubt.

“If I see someone that I feel 100 per cent is the one, maybe I would. But as it stands, I’m just trying to be cautious,” Falz added.

The rapper also rejected the idea that votes do not matter during elections, arguing that the alleged practice of vote-buying by politicians proves that electoral decisions remain influential.

He encouraged Nigerians, especially young voters, not to lose confidence in the democratic process, urging them to continue participating in elections.

Falz maintained that a large voter turnout could make it more difficult for election manipulation to occur, stressing the importance of citizens showing up in significant numbers.

He also advocated for greater use of technology in Nigeria’s electoral system, particularly the implementation of real-time electronic transmission of results to improve transparency and public trust.

The entertainer questioned why the country had yet to fully adopt such measures despite significant investments in the electoral process.

Falz further stated that lessons from previous elections should encourage Nigerians to demand better systems and increase participation in future polls.

He argued that overwhelming support for a preferred candidate at polling units would make it significantly harder for anyone to alter the outcome of an election.
