spoke with optimism about the future during a recent visit to President Bola Tinubu in Lagos.
“Time is critical,” Joshua stressed. “Reflecting on the past year, there’s more I could have achieved, but I’m ready to seize new challenges in 2025.”
At 35, Joshua has faced some setbacks, including a knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in September. However, the heavyweight remains determined to regain his place among boxing’s elite.
“I’m fully committed to the journey,” Joshua said. “The road’s been tough, but it’s about pushing forward and learning from every experience.”
When asked about facing Fury, Joshua remained optimistic yet realistic. “We’ll see,” he said. “Let’s step into the ring. The future is full of possibilities, and I’m open to whatever comes.”
Despite his challenges, Joshua’s 2024 included a stunning second-round knockout of Francis Ngannou, which earned him CBS Sports’ Knockout of the Year award. Yet, his encounter with Dubois marked a difficult defeat, with the IBF champion knocking him out in the fifth round after Joshua was dropped multiple times.
Looking ahead, Joshua’s clash with Fury remains one of the most anticipated matchups in British boxing. Both fighters are eager to reclaim their world titles, especially after Fury’s setbacks to Oleksandr Usyk, who became the first undisputed heavyweight champion in 25 years.
