Clash Of Titans: Wike Pushes Privatization While Fubara Vows To Protect Rivers Resources
Austin Tam-George, former Commissioner for Information during Nyesom Wike’s tenure as Rivers State governor, has shed light on the root cause of the ongoing political conflict between Governor Siminalay Fubara and the Minister…Clash Of Titans: Wike Pushes Privatization While Fubara Vows To Protect Rivers Resources
of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike. According to Tam-George, the core issue lies in the control of the state’s resources, a dispute that has deepened the rift between the two leaders.
In a recent interview with News Central, Tam-George claimed that Wike is determined to seize Rivers’ resources for his personal gain, a move that the governor vehemently opposes. “The Governor is not taking aggressive actions against the Minister, but rather, it is the FCT Minister who has launched several public attacks against the administration, aiming to destabilize the state,” Tam-George explained.
He made it clear that the tension between Wike and Fubara is not rooted in personal animosities but rather a significant ideological conflict over the privatization of state resources. “The FCT minister seeks to privatize the state’s resources for his benefit, while the governor is committed to ensuring these resources serve all the people of Rivers State,” Tam-George emphasized.
The former commissioner expressed skepticism about any possibility of reconciliation between the two leaders, stating that the disagreement stems from a fundamental difference in vision. “This is a battle between privatization and state control,” he said. “Until the issue of resource control is resolved, no reconciliation can take place.”
Tam-George also called on Wike to shift his focus to his responsibilities in the FCT and allow Fubara to implement his developmental agenda for Rivers. He reiterated that Fubara has the full support of the people in his pursuit to stop the privatization of state assets and ensure that all resources meant for Rivers are used for its development.
