In a statement released on Monday, the LP dismisses the resignation calls as a product of orchestrated propaganda led by former National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, and his cohorts, whom they accuse of misrepresenting themselves as state chairmen.

National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, rebuffs the allegations of financial mismanagement leveled against Abure, citing them as baseless. However, the controversy deepens as state chairmen, led by Solomon Ndem of Plateau State, persist in their demand for Abure’s resignation, citing allegations of financial impropriety, particularly regarding campaign funds amounting to N3.5 billion.

Despite Abure’s steadfast denial of any wrongdoing, the state chairmen remain resolute in their stance, advocating for his removal to ensure a thorough investigation into the accusations.

In response to the escalating crisis, Ifoh assures that authentic state chairmen recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will soon issue a statement to clarify the situation. He urges the public to disregard what he labels as a fabricated narrative designed to undermine the integrity of the Labour Party.

Acknowledging the challenges facing the party, Ifoh affirms their determination to weather the storm, declaring, “Let it be known that the Labour Party is under the worst kind of siege ever but you can be assured that the party will survive them.”
