A Lagos man was reportedly left in shock after discovering that the cash he intended to use to buy a new mobile phone was counterfeit. The incident was recounted by an employee of a local phone store, drawing significant attention on social media.

According to reports, the man had gone to the shop with the intention of purchasing a new phone. He explained that the cash he brought came from the sale of his old device at Ikeja Computer Village and planned to combine it with additional funds to complete the purchase.

The store employee noted that the man was confident the money was genuine, claiming he had checked it before leaving home. However, during the transaction, it became evident that the notes were fake, resembling ordinary paper rather than real currency.

The discovery reportedly left the man visibly stunned and confused, as he insisted he had no prior knowledge that the money was counterfeit.
