Kanu’s lead counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, confirmed that the doctor, chosen personally by Kanu, conducted the examination. Ejimakor expressed relief at the development, highlighting the challenges faced in securing this opportunity, which should have occurred much earlier.

In a social media post, Ejimakor emphasized the significance of this breakthrough, noting the persistence of Kanu’s legal team in advocating for his rights. Despite the difficulties encountered, Ejimakor affirmed the team’s determination not to relent in their efforts.

Previously, Ejimakor had accused the Department of State Services (DSS) of obstructing Kanu’s access to an independent medical practitioner. Kanu himself, during a court appearance, asserted his health concerns, citing congestive heart failure and urging the court to respect his right to fair treatment.
