Falana emphasized the need for the federal government to intervene and ensure that the investigation into the murder of the soldiers is conducted properly. He stated that murder is not a military offense and therefore should not fall under the jurisdiction of the defense headquarters.
The human rights lawyer warned that failure to address the illegality of declaring murder suspects wanted could lead to a botched investigation and hinder the pursuit of justice for the slain soldiers.
Meanwhile, during a burial ceremony on Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu vowed to hold the perpetrators accountable for their actions. Tinubu called on the elders and chiefs of the Okuama community to collaborate with the military in identifying and apprehending the gunmen responsible for the heinous crime.
