The latest figures from the Lagos parallel foreign exchange market indicate that the United States dollar exchanged at ₦1,408 for selling and ₦1,404 for buying on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, according to Bureau De Change (BDC) sources.

According to Ireporter Online, the rates reflect prevailing prices in the black market, commonly referred to as the Aboki FX market, where foreign exchange transactions are carried out outside the official banking system.

Market sources noted that while the parallel market recorded a selling rate of ₦1,408 per dollar, the official exchange window maintained by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) recorded rates ranging between ₦1,359 and ₦1,365.

The CBN has consistently maintained that it does not recognise transactions carried out in the parallel market and has advised individuals and businesses seeking foreign exchange to access it through authorised financial institutions and commercial banks.

Traders also cautioned that exchange rates may differ across locations and dealers, meaning the actual buying or selling price could vary depending on market conditions and negotiation at the point of transaction.
