According to Ireporter Online, the exchange rate for the United States dollar against the Nigerian naira at the parallel market, popularly known as the black market or Aboki FX, remained under close watch as traders released fresh rates for Saturday, August 1, 2026.

Market sources revealed that Bureau De Change (BDC) operators in Lagos exchanged the dollar at ₦1,425 for sellers, while the buying rate stood at ₦1,410 per dollar.

The latest figures highlight the continued gap between the parallel market and the official foreign exchange window regulated by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Data from the apex bank showed that the official exchange rate ranged between a high of ₦1,372 and a low of ₦1,360 per dollar.

The CBN has consistently maintained that it does not recognise transactions conducted in the parallel market, advising individuals and businesses seeking foreign exchange to obtain it through authorised financial institutions and commercial banks.

Meanwhile, forex traders noted that exchange rates may vary across locations and dealers, meaning the actual buying or selling price could differ depending on prevailing market conditions.
